History of the Village of Baldwin Park
Before the Village this are use to be a turkey farm. The village used to supply Pleasant Hill, Mo until 1945. The home down in the gully where 2 gentleman live is where the pump station use to be. The Village of Baldwin Park, a subdivision of Cass County, Missouri was purchased and incorporated in 1973 for the sum of $4100.00. Most residents called the Village, Baldwin Lake. With a beautiful lake that all residents got enjoy. The Village is considered a class 3 village. We began our own Board of Trustee, electing a Mayor or Chairman of the Board. and introducing ordinances. On May 4, 1977 an F4 tornado hit Pleasant Hill and Baldwin Park, devastating everything. Waterlines were installed in the Village, early in 1979. Murrell and Anna Leap are the resident who have live in the Village the longest. The dam broke in 1988 and has not be repaired since. 20 feet of silt or sediment have to be removed before the dam can be brought back in so the dam wont brake again. We pay our taxes to Cass County and not to Pleasant Hill. We are our own Village.
